FORUM Discussion

Aloha,

The AHC Steering Committee has convened its 2025 monthly discussions in preparation for our annual event in October 2025. We are excited about the upcoming convention and look forward to seeing you all there!

As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we are carefully reviewing the questions and recommendations collected during the convention forum. While we may not be able to address every comment, the committee thoughtfully considers each one and prioritizes responses that are most relevant and impactful for future conventions.

AL-ANON PARTICIPATION:

For over 50 years, AHC has maintained a strong and cooperative relationship with Al-Anon. However, in recent years, Al-Anon’s participation has declined to approximately 30–40 attendees, and representation on the steering committee has also diminished.

In response to these changes and in the spirit of service, the steering committee has created a designated position for an Al-Anon Committee Chairperson within the convention committee.

AHC remains committed to supporting Al-Anon in accordance with the A.A. Guidelines: Relationship Between A.A. and Al-Anon (MG-8):

"When an A.A. convention committee invites Al-Anon to participate with its own program, A.A. may pay all expenses (for meeting rooms, coffee, etc.) and keep all income from registrations, etc., in a single fund used to pay all convention bills, after which any excess income reverts back to A.A."

If Al-Anon participation grows in the coming years, the steering committee will reassess the situation and make any necessary adjustments to ensure the best possible support and collaboration.

In love and service,

AHC Steering Committee

OUTER ISLAND OPTION:

After much deliberation, the AHC Steering committee has not been able to come up with an agreeable contract at this time for the 2025 AHC.  Efforts will continue for 2027.
